EU-LIFE Community members held their annual meeting in Barcelona on 23th and 24th of October. This annual event brings the opportunity to strengthen the on-going EU-LIFE collaborations looking for an optimal environment for excellent research. Open science, scientific collaborations, research infrastructure, technology transfer, funding, career development in research were at the heart of the EU-LIFE working groups discussions.

ERC President, Jean-Pierre Bourguignon was the key note speaker at the 2016 EU-LIFE Community Meeting, which was held 2-3 November at The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in Amsterdam. The President of the European Research Council joined EU-LIFE community to discuss the challenging perspectives of research in Europe including the next framework programme (FP9) and overall science policy.

During our 2nd Community Meeting, around 80 EU-LIFE members presented main results of the 7 Working groups we have established, focusing on Grants, Science Communication, Translational Research, Technology Transfer, Training, IT and Indicators of Excellence. In addition to sharing best practice and benefiting from each other’s expertise and experience in all these domains, we have initiated several joint actions which were presented during the meeting.

The first EU-LIFE Community meeting took place at the CRG in Barcelona.
